The Lu.C.C.A. – Lucca Center of Contemporary Art has been set up within the Boccella Palace, an old building situated in the historical centre of Lucca, a few steps from the famous Piazza dell’Anfiteatro (the square that has the shape of the ancient anphitheatre). The bulding has the typical elements of the 16th century architecture: shelves by the windows, ashlar frames and a double pietra serena stairway which is the main entrance.

The Uffizi Gallery is an important Italian museum located in Florence and it’s one of the most famous in the world. It hosts priceless works of art mainly coming from the collection of the Medici family, enriched by donations and legacies, as the group of religious works coming from monasteries and convents that were closed in the 18th and 19th century. The museum is divided in various rooms and it contains works in chronological order from the 12th to the 18th century. It has got the best collection of the scuola toscana and fiorentina in the whole world, with masterpieces of Cimabue and Michelangelo, Giotto, Leonardo da Vinci and Raffaello. The collection of works by Sandro Botticelli is amazing. There are also representations of other Italian and European schools (Mantegna, Tiziano, Parmigianino, Rubens, Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Canaletto etc). The collections of statues and drawings are very interesting too.
